This is a colourful and detailed map of the Manchester to Liverpool Railway from around 1870 with a view of a train of the First Class of Carriages with Mail at the top, and a train of the Second Class of Carriages for "Outside" passengers. The map shows the route of the Manchester to Liverpool Railway that was opened on 15th September 1830. Other railways are marked, such as the Junction of the Grand Junction Railway opened in 1837 linking Manchester and Liverpool with Birmingham.
